Where does a portable light belong?

Portable lamps are designed to move, but they rarely have a natural place to rest and recharge. BonBon treats charging as part of the object, not as a hidden technical task.

The tray creates a visible home for the lamp and can also hold keys and cards in a hallway, or jewellery and glasses beside a bed.

Light, tray and charging point

The lamp settles into the tray as a single composition. When removed, it becomes a soft, portable source of light for a terrace, bedside, garden or quiet moment elsewhere in the home.

The rounded translucent shade creates a familiar, almost confectionery-like volume, while the handle makes the movement and orientation of the lamp immediately understandable.

Exploring form and atmosphere

The design process considered handle geometry, internal light patterns, the relationship between lamp and tray, and the balance between ambient light and functional portability.

The current phase focuses on the charging interface, light diffusion, material selection, assembly and the transition from visual prototype to working prototype.
